Just when I thought I was finding my rhythm, my little guy decided it’s time to switch things up again 😂

He’s approaching 3 months old and he’s developing yet another set of skills.

He’s seeing further, discovering his hands more, grabbing everything in sight (including our hair), nonstop kicks when he’s super excited, becoming more curious about the world, and finally teething! 🦷

It’s fascinating watching him grow.

But with these new developments comes new challenges.

Sleep being one of them.

We're getting one solid 4–5 hour stretch at night, followed by 2–3 hour stretches.

Sometimes even less.

We’ve gotten less sleep when he was a newborn.

But we were hopeful he wouldn’t regress… it’s all part of the process.

And my morning workouts?

Well, those have become a little more unpredictable too.

It's almost like he has Spidey senses. The second I leave the room to train, he knows.

So lately, instead of forcing my usual morning workout, I've been letting my wife catch up on sleep while I hang out with our little guy.

Some mornings, I'm trying to get him back to sleep.

Other mornings, we're both on the playmat.

He's playing with his toys.

I'm doing my mobility work beside him, instead of my standard lifts.

Not exactly the training session I had planned, but we adapt!

Rather than fighting to protect my old schedule, I've started building a new one.

With my wife's support, I've carved out time in the afternoons for my proper workouts.

And I've got a new pull-up station arriving tomorrow, which I'm excited about. More opportunities to get some pull-ups and lat work in at home!

Little adjustments, but they add up.

I'm realizing that the goal isn't to build a perfect routine. It's to build one that adapts to your life.

Especially as a dad.

Our time, energy, and priorities will constantly shift.

Instead of rushing to get back into shape, I'm focusing on showing up, doing what I can, and reflecting each week on how to make things work better.

And honestly, I'm grateful for all of it.

Even the interrupted workouts.

This week’s Rep:
Create a Plan B workout.

Pick 3 exercises you can do at home in 10 minutes or less, with little to no equipment.

Save them on your phone.

Next time your planned workout falls apart, you've already got a backup ready.

Until the next one dads,
John Guevara
